Although many of the choreographic actions - such as engaged walks - are designed to be ephemeral in nature, an impulse remains to make certain parts of these processes more tangible.

I like walking because it vibrates with potentiality. No matter how ephemeral, subtle or undefined, it sends a ripple into the fabric of space-time setting something unknowable in motion. Walking is primal. It is understood by everyone. Even those who cannot walk maintain a relationship with walking. As an artistic medium, it is unconventional; an alternative canvas, a less usual way to sculpt or dance. It is hard to commodify a walk and asks for a different interaction between work and audience. The observer is simultaneously participant and collaborates in how the work proceeds. Walking can happen at any time. It needs no permission from a gallery or theater for it to happen. It is simply a unique movement framed in a specific time and a specific space. It is impossible to replicate exactly. One never swims in the same river, one never walks the same street.


This is a score that sets a walk in motion. A walk as an artistic act. With it comes a “mental map” - an abstract device to frame the work. It is an invitation to engage in a movement through time and space. A nudge to set the work in motion, create a story and pass it on.
